We Day!

The room is pulsing with energy. 900 people gathered into one room all  connected by the urged  to change the world. Some hold signs while others show their enthusiasm through cheers and smiles. Craig Kielburger, the co-founder of the noteworthy organization Free the Children starts a roar of excitement as we bang our feet together in a drum-roll of anticipation for the next We Day Launch Event speaker.
As one of the millions affiliated with Free the Children, I have a passion to take action. I have a dream that someday we will all have access to clean water, education, and means of a steady income. I have gotten a lot of opportunities from this fantastic organization. I was invited to attend a camp where Disney filmed an anti-bullying PSA that I was in. I was given a mentor whom I talk to frequently. Now, I have been given the ability to be a Youth Spark reporter for We Day and the We Day Launch event.
But, what is We Day? Remember the organization, Free the Children, I mentioned earlier? Well, they decided to create an event where thousands of youth gather to listen to musicians, inspirational speakers, and others share their passion for change, and empower them to do more. As Craig said at the launch event of We Day, "We Day isn't the end, [or reward for the change you've created] it is the beginning for even more action." For, to earn a ticket to We day, you have to do a local and global action. For example, I made valentines for our local homeless, and packed rice into barrels for refugees in Afghanistan. I also co-started  a school community service club, participated in a hunger empathy activity, raised awareness about child labor and chocolate, and had my school change their Styrofoam lunch trays to more environmentally friendly options. For more information on what We day is, visit www.weday.com and watch the video below. Guess what? We Day is coming to CA in March!

I encourage you to call a
Free the Children office, and talk to them about issues that you want to do something about. You will be amazed about how powerful YOU are and how YOU can change the world. I sign off with this quote: “Be the change you wish to see in the world” –Gandhi.

Taron Hensley is a Pedophile.

Nine months later I emerge with the hopes of being vaccinated soon. FUcking hell. What a trip. This pandemic is going to require a lot of processing in the future but for now, I want to share and record some things I am very proud that I accomplished over this period of time. I was able to help start and run a campaign to eventually get my high school drama teacher who spread the rumor that I called the cops at a cast party which ruined my social life at that school while stalking me and my friends and constantly trying to get me in compromising and damn disgusting and gross situations. His charm to his superiors and the gaslighting and abuse of students has been heavily weighing on me in a way I have yet to fully deal with. I spoke out in high school and was silenced, threatened, and made to feel unwelcome. Yet the internet and living in a whole separate continent does wonders for confidence. I helped create a petition, gathered testimonies, and launched this campaign with my friends

Rainy Night Writing

There is something quite different about writing when it is raining outside than when it isn't. I despise my frozen toes and fingers, yet I love drinking chocolate almond milk with banana bread. It seems almost enchanting, like creativity is plopping on your rooftop. Writing in the rain, so odd. Writing in the rain It is like laughing during a thunder cloud, in perfect harmony with nature, rhyming and paralleling the weather, writing in the rain, creativity pours from you, as you hear the pitter patter, you wonder where the drops will all go, writing in the rain, a clean slate to begin again, a downpour of ideas, soon to come again, I love writing in the rain.
